Moore Drive to Close in February 2007

Early construction activity is focused on Moore Drive in Joondalup where the project site offices are located. In February 2007, Moore Drive will close, between Christchurch Terrace in Connolly, and Blue Mountain Drive in Joondalup, for about eight months.

The decision to close the road, rather than constructing a temporary deviation, is expected to save the community approximately $1 million. The funds will be used to develop a four-lane bridge over the freeway, at the same height as the existing road, that will tie in with the City of Joondalup’s plans to widen Moore Drive in the future.

During the move:

all vehicles will be directed away from local roads to the major arteries of Marmion Avenue, Connolly Drive and Joondalup Drive.
traffic moving between Joondalup city centre and the coast will need to use alternative routes along either Shenton Avenue or Burns Beach Road.
pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained.
a traffic monitoring programme is in place to protect neighbourhood streets. Any noticeable increase in vehicle numbers will be reported to the City of Joondalup and the project team will work closely with Council to ensure the safety and convenience of nearby residents is not compromised.
